bearbrick-series-14-sf-dr-x-by-dr-romanelli-100
BE@RBRICK Series 14 SF "Dr X by Dr. Romanelli" (100%)

With the BE@RBRICK Series 14 SF "Dr X by Dr. Romanelli" (100%), you add a piece of design history from 2007 to your collection. Behind the name Dr. Romanelli is a designer who has made working with well-known brands and characters his trademark: he takes icons apart and puts them back together as if he were in the operating theatre. The medical imagery is central to the concept, as the abbreviation DRx itself refers to the prescription symbol used in pharmacies. The Bearbrick carries this idea through consistently onto Medicom Toy's iconic bear body.

The head comes in bold royal blue. Large, glossy eyes with white highlights give the face an almost innocent expression. Over the muzzle sits a white surgical mask with fine pleat lines and side straps, prominently bearing the DRx logo. The body is dressed in mint-green scrubs with a suggested collar and a continuous seam down the front. A dark stethoscope with a gold-coloured chest piece hangs around the neck, and a pair of scissors is tucked into the breast pocket. A blue cross shines on the right arm. The deliberate asymmetry is particularly charming: one hand wears a dark green glove, the other a black one, complemented by black shoes.

The model was released as a single in Series 14, where it is assigned to the SF category. As a 100% figure, it stands around 7 cm tall and offers an astonishing wealth of detail despite its compact size. As was typical of the early series, the figures were sold in blind boxes, which is why individual designs are now specifically sought after. If you want to trace the development of Bearbricks towards designer collaborations, you will find a vivid example from this phase here.

The little surgeon is ideal for collectors with a soft spot for streetwear culture and designer toys, but it looks just as good on a shelf in a doctor's surgery or as a humorous gift for people working in healthcare.
