Product details

Product description

Jean-Michel Basquiat is considered one of the most influential artists of the Neo-Expressionist movement, shaping the New York art scene of the early 1980s like no other. His raw, immediate visual language of graffiti, symbols, text, and figurative scribbles made him an icon. In collaboration with the artist's estate and Artestar New York, Medicom Toy has created an ongoing series that transfers his works onto the three-dimensional bear form. This 2020 model is part of the sixth edition of this collaboration and brings a painted masterpiece into collectible form.

A printed Basquiat painting, depicting a crowned king figure with a scepter, runs across the entire body as a random pattern. Against a strong sky blue and warm sand tones, the red and black skeleton motif appears with a golden crown, wild chalk lines, and expressive brushstrokes. The high-gloss surface enhances the luminosity of the colors and allows the head, torso, arms, and legs to merge into a coherent canvas. The words Jean-Michel Basquiat, along with his characteristic crown signature, are emblazoned on the back.

The set combines two sizes: the compact 100% figure with a height of around 7 cm and the imposing 400% figure with a height of around 28 cm. Both feature the same art motif, with the generous surface of the 400% model showcasing the painting in particularly rich detail, while the smaller version serves as a charming addition. As part of the coveted Basquiat series, this duo is a sought-after item for collectors and art lovers alike.

Whether as an eye-catcher on the shelf, a statement in the living room, or a special gift for fans of modern art – this set combines street art attitude with museum flair. Those who appreciate the connection between pop culture collectibles and true art history should not hesitate for too long.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is this Bearbrick already pre-assembled?

Yes, all Bearbricks available at MyBearBrick.de are delivered fully assembled by the manufacturer Medicom Toy and are ready to display. So there's no risk of damaging the model.

What packaging does this Bearbrick come in?

This Bearbrick comes in the official original Medicom Toy packaging (see specifications). This is often a collector's item in its own right and important for preserving the model's value. We take care to ensure secure packaging for shipping to prevent damage during transport.

What material is this Bearbrick made of and how do I best care for it?

Most Bearbricks are made of high-quality plastic (ABS plastic), unless otherwise stated in the specifications. For maintenance, we recommend gently dusting the figure regularly with a soft, dry cloth. On chrome versions, fingerprints should be avoided; cloth gloves may be helpful here. Direct sunlight and high humidity should be avoided to protect the colors and material over time and ensure long-term value retention.

How quickly will my order be shipped and how long will delivery take?

Orders received by 2:00 PM on weekdays (11:00 AM on Saturdays) will be shipped the same day via DHL. Delivery within Germany typically takes 1 to 2 business days, to other EU countries 2 to 4 business days, and to the United Kingdom 3 to 5 business days. You will always receive a tracking number so you can check the status of your delivery at any time.

How much are the shipping costs for this Bearbrick?

We offer free shipping within the European Union for orders over €75. For orders below this amount, we charge a flat shipping fee of €4.90 for deliveries within Germany and €7.90 for other EU countries. For UK customers, the shipping fee is GBP 10.00 with a minimum order value of GBP 140.00. We cover all customs duties and import taxes for you.

What payment options do I have?

At MyBearBrick.de you can pay securely and conveniently using various payment methods, including PayPal, Klarna (purchase on account), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, American Express).

What happens if I don't like the Bearbrick or it arrives damaged?

Your satisfaction is important to us. If, contrary to expectations, you don't like a Bearbrick or it's damaged, you have a 30-day free return policy. Simply contact us by phone, email, or chat, and we'll send you a prepaid DHL return label. Once we receive your return, we'll, of course, refund the full purchase price, including any shipping costs.

Will I receive a certificate of authenticity for this Bearbrick?

For all Bearbricks 200% and larger (including 100%+400% sets), we at Zaiser Art Gallery issue an additional Certificate of Authenticity for your records. This underscores our commitment and conviction to offering only genuine Medicom Toy products.

How does the quality and mobility of this model differ from other sizes?

Medicom Toy's production quality is very high across all sizes. Larger models (400% or 1000%) often offer more space for detailed designs. However, the joints vary depending on the size: In larger models (400% and 1000%), the arms and legs usually rotate in a single plane. Smaller Bearbricks (especially 100% and 200%) often have ball joints, allowing for more flexible movement of the limbs.
