With the Flag variant Jamaica from Series 22, you're adding one of the world's most distinctive flag designs to your collection. Released in June 2011, this series held special significance: it kicked off the anniversary season celebrating Bearbrick's tenth year. That Medicom Toy chose Jamaica for the Flag category was a stroke of luck – hardly any nation is so immediately associated with music, joie de vivre, and a globally instantly recognizable color identity as this Caribbean island.

The design precisely transfers the Jamaican national flag to the figure's body: the striking golden saltire stretches diagonally across the chest and back, flanked by black fields on the arms and rich green areas on the head, belly, and legs. The yellow hands pick up the golden hue of the cross, adding a playful accent that suitably rounds off the flag's color dramaturgy. Thus, the figure becomes a three-dimensional homage to a piece of vexillology history.

The flag itself was introduced on August 6, 1962, for Jamaica's independence and is a true celebrity among national flags: it is the only one in the world that completely dispenses with red, white, or blue. Green stands for hope and the island's lush vegetation, gold for sunshine and natural wealth, black for the strength and creativity of the population.
