Product description
Shazam is one of the oldest and most fascinating superheroes in comic book history. Originally created in 1940 as Captain Marvel by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck for Fawcett Comics, the character was the best-selling superhero of the 1940s, at times even surpassing Superman. The basic idea is as ingenious as it is timeless: Orphan Billy Batson transforms into an adult superhero by uttering the magic word "SHAZAM!", his powers derived from six mythological figures – Solomon (wisdom), Hercules (strength), Atlas (endurance), Zeus (power), Achilles (courage), and Mercury (speed). After decades of legal battles with DC Comics and the subsequent acquisition by DC, the publisher officially renamed the hero Shazam in 2011. In 2019, Warner Bros. brought the character to the big screen with Zachary Levi in the title role, giving him a modern, humorous upgrade in the DC Extended Universe.
This Bearbrick is clearly based on the 2019 film version, meticulously recreating Shazam's iconic look on the bear figure. The face features flesh-toned features with a confident, mischievous grin, bold eyebrows, and black hair styled back over the Bearbrick's ears. The torso is a rich red with the prominent golden lightning bolt symbol on the chest, flanked by two golden studs. Golden armbands and golden boots add elegant touches, while a decorative belt with red lightning bolt motifs and a central point adorns the waist. The back shows the white cape with fine vertical lines and a continuous Greek meander pattern – a reference to the ancient roots of Shazam's powers.
