Product description

Vincent van Gogh painted "The Potato Eaters" in April 1885 during his time in Nuenen – it was the first major work he considered a true masterpiece. The somber painting depicts a farming family gathered around a table in the evening by dim lamplight, eating potatoes they have dug from the earth with their own hands. Van Gogh deliberately avoided idealizing figures, instead capturing the harsh, earthy reality of rural life. This iconic early work forms the basis for this Bearbrick, created in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam – a tribute to one of the most emotionally resonant and authentic paintings in art history.

The design of this Bearbrick is exceptionally atmospheric. The entire painting "The Potato Eaters" was transferred to the figure's body using full-surface printing, so that the original's dark browns, olives, and ochres seamlessly extend across the head, torso, arms, and legs. The characteristic figures of the farming family, the pale light of the kerosene lamp, and the heavy, labored faces are all recognizable on the three-dimensional Bearbrick silhouette, creating a fascinating interplay between classical painting and modern design. The distinctive name "Vincent" is emblazoned on the back of the torso in a flowing, cream-colored typeface, lending the piece a personal, almost intimate touch. The glossy finish vividly reflects the painting's dark palette, highlighting different details of the motif depending on the light.

The set includes a 100% scale figure approximately 7 cm tall and a 400% scale figure approximately 28 cm tall. Both feature the same motif, with the larger version showcasing the painting's finer details—the peasants' features, the steaming bowl of potatoes, the interplay of light and shadow—significantly more effectively. A licensed collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum, this Bearbrick joins a prized series of museum-quality editions that translate world-class works into the Bearbrick format. Its dark, unusual color scheme sets this model apart from the more common, colorful art Bearbricks, making it a true collector's item with high recognition value.

Whether you're a fan of Van Gogh's early work, an art lover with a passion for collectible figurines, or simply looking for an extraordinary decorative piece – this Bearbrick uniquely combines art history and design culture. Its earthy, melancholic aesthetic adds a distinctive touch to any shelf or display case. Secure this museum-quality collector's item now before it's gone.
